If thats fine make sure your brake switch is working, if it somehow moved then it wont release the switch to release the lock.

She could not get the shifter to move from park to reverse. Parking brake released, foot on brake… nothing. I hopped in turned key off and back on, shifter still would not move. Playing with the knob I just happened to slightly push down and the rotary shifter then moved out of park and into reverse.
