Beeeeeeeeep is an overheat warning. There is a float inside the tank with a magnet in it. Either the float doesn't float anymore, or the magnet fell out.Engine overspeed- that doesn't happen until 6000+ rpm. Low voltage/ electrical- test for volts at battery when the alarm is activated. Low oil pressure- check your oil level (i presume you change your filter regularly?). Usually, the low oil alarm also results in the revs being limited to around 2000 rpm. It is located on top of the throttle body and fairly easy to replace. I took it to a nearby Mercury dealer; they replaced one coil. That fixed the problem immediately. I called Mercury and they replaced the three remaining coils even though my six-year warranty had expired by a month.
