As soon as you move it to a different slot in the belt it reactivates until paused again. Weirdly it seems to have rectified itself after switching slots a number of times in a row back and forth. In chapter 2 you get covenant of the inheritor, aka free cold iron and good aligned weapons for every ally in a good range. Most demons have DR cold iron and DR good, making it 0. The enemies that do have decent DR and arent cold iron/good are elementals and they are all immune to sneak attacks, meaning that you can't apply weakening wound.
