The gas system is better in the 1301. I think better than the Benelli M4. The a300 may also have a better gas system than the 940. I love the a300 personally and I'm a Mossberg guy. But i was using well known ammo, winchester super X, hornady critical defense. But i didnt have an issue with the bolt locking up while shooting, only when manually cycling. But i would imagine i would have that problem with a low powered load. $1000 shotgun it kinda sucks to have these problems out of the box.
