not familiar with Emerson - but typically on a programmable thermostat there's a hold button - so you don't have to go thru and fuss with the scheduling.. you can just set it to "hold" and basically bypass all that bs.. so if you set the temp to 70 "hold", it'll just hold that temp 24/7 like an old school thermostat would.
