2: this question is very confusing, because the cam crimp punch and putting the wad on the rammer tube are two completely separate operations. I would hope you are only trying to work on one shell at a time on the 600 jr. That is all it is designed to do. 3: The general wisdom is to ground your press.

You also have two presses with a few changed parts. Column springs dont match. The chrome one is a pre 82, black one not sure of the date. Two different handles, the one on the right is pre 82,one on the left was introduced with MEC's first progressive. The measure assemble on the left looks like the old "caps silver soldered" unit.

Look on Mec's website and download the manuals for the respective model you have. If it has a flat base plate and a silver sticker with the S/N then its a pre 82. If it has a slightly raised base plate and doesn't say mk.5 then its a 82-85. If it the base plate say's mk5 then it was after 85.
