Oct 19, 2023 · After acquiring your first exotic Glaive Pattern through the Report: Reverse-Lure quest, the other two exotic Glaive Patterns will be acquirable by completing the Wellspring activity, and the drops seem to be very random and rare, so be prepared to play a bunch more of Wellspring, that is, if you really want all three exotic Glaives. I do like some of bungie’s decisions on most aspects of Destiny playability but this constant grinding the wellspring for glaive patterns at very low drop rates are not one of them.

I do think that in general, the pattern/red-border mechanism is flawed, in terms of predictability and drop rates.
