The best weapon is the one you enjoy using. The mace is not a bad strength weapon. Can't go wrong with a Longsword. It's one of the most versatile weapons for both pve and pvp (top tier in pvp), and after beating the game with nothing but the LS, imo if I had to pick just one weapon, it would be the Longsword, no contest.

I personally use a Lightning infused Priest Chime for Miracles, arguably second only to the Dragon Chime, but with the huge benefit of being obtainable much earlier on.
