5 - Icarus. 5 - Kama Sutra. 5 - Memento Mori. 5 - Resurgence. 5 - Speed of Doom. 5 - Swift Death. I think I should update this. As much as I have nostalgia for Memento Mori and Icarus, I think I have to admit that they're not nearly as strong as what has come after. I also still like Swift Death, but I've found more wads I like over it.

I've always enjoyed projects that aren't so much wads or even mods but most accurately described as stand alone games that happen to use the GZDoom engine. The Adventures of Square, Blade of Agony and Hedon are some that I've particularly enjoyed.Some of the wads included in this are well known vanilla megawads from the time, such as Memento Mori, Obituary and STRAIN. Others are wads that take advantage of ZDoom features, such as Daedalus and Project Slipgate. Others yet take Doom gameplay to creative new heights, like Cyberdreams or All Hell is Breaking Loose.
Icaurus: Alien Vanguard is always number 1. Hell 2 Pay is super rad too. I found Doom 2 The Rebirth to be an excellent wad too. EGYPT.WAD is also a personal favourite. It's hard to really list outside of these four as so many maps are worthy of being listed but these four really stick with me.

Some of the wads might a be series of few, which is not so often thing for Doom or it's quite different in his case. For example Hexen sometimes has a pack of 3 or ever 4 wads that are similar in overall taste. It's about time I delved more into the early wads, so I'm intending to play through all of these from 50 to 1 over the next couple months.Some of my favorites are: Back to Saturn X, Golden Souls (am hyped for the sequel~), Castlevania: Simons Destiny and Going Down. There are far too much good wads, so giving an exhaustive list is impossible. As already said, first check the Cacowards and top 100 wads of all time (old Cacowards), it should give you a good base.
