All these ceramic bowls wouldn't last one bounce. They are pretty though. Suribachi (grinding bowl) are by far the most effective lather bowls. They are expensive though and try to get one bigger than 5 - 8 inches diameter. Terracotta bowls tied with marble bowls for second place on effectiveness. At any rate, I can’t speak to how the AL13 compares to other DE razors, but as a product for someone that was just looking to ditch cartridge razors and improve their shave, I love this razor. The weight and feel is spot on, 36 vs 39 grams for the Mach 3 vs the AL13. The head design defines and maintains the optimal shave angle.

I'd get one of the 3-piece ones like 23C, 33C or 42C, that way you can mix and match heads and handles if you get more down the road.

The R41 feels very different from the Rocca. The Rocca is smooth and medium aggressive, the R41 is one of the more aggressive razors out there. They're both wonderful razors, but really not comparable. Btw, if you like aggressive razors and want something sturdy, the R41 exists also as a stainless steel version, the R41 GS. enzo1291.
