What I was referring to was my Sportsman 48 has the same friction ring but also a couple of additional rings, one of which you can reverse depending on the load. The Model 11 schematic shows very similar rings. My 11-48 doesn't have those two additional rings, only the friction ring. My understanding is that the 11-48 and sportsman 48 are the same with the differents being only 3 rounds can be placed in the sportsman. Here's a link to the Rem 11-48 parts diagram.
