In west point the best places I've found to get nails are 3 different locations. The only thing I can depend on forage for is the basics. Sure you can get animals, frogs, items, a shovel, etc. if you're foraging on the road you might have a good chance for these things. Nails for example. I foraged enough nails to make a spiked plank once. But you can't depend on it.
