You will get a visual indicator when there's compost to be collected (looks like the bin is filled with dirt). The composting time is set by default to two weeks. After that, you'll see that composter says something like "X% full". Then, you need to have a sack and fill it with compost. You need to wait, the rotten food takes time to "dissapear", then with an empty sack you could gather the fertilizer. I Think you need worms.
