Marlin 1894 and 94 manufacture dates. I have a question on manufacture dates for a couple of different Marlins. First is a Model 94, in 25-20 serial number 8014xx, as best I can tell the first number is a 8 and not a 3, but even with a magnifying glass I am not 100% sure. Second is a 1894C 357/38 Serial number, 92041xxx.

Marlin simply used the first two digits of the serial number to indicate the year the gun was made, and in your case, 68 = 1968.
