I have an Ithaca model 51 that I have used for duck hunting for the past 9 years. I only had one problem when I first got the gun. It was well below 0 and I the synthetic piece behind the bolt shattered. I had this fixed for $110.00 and haven't had a problem since. You have to push the carrier release each time. However, it should extract shell from chamber every time, and not double feed. May be a problem there.

The guys at the gun shop said that there were two ejector rods that were broken inside the gun and that it would be pretty much worthless because of the problem.
