If you didn't have the action I would tell you to go to a magnum bolt face round. Other option to consider is one of the 284 improved cartridges (284 Shehane for example), but that has its own problems. For the velocity you want, 280 AI should get you close. I would count on 2700-2750 from a 24" tube.
