Get some rtv gasket maker put a good bead around the plate and put it on, let the gasket sealer set for a few mins before fully tightening.

I put in exactly recommend amount of 1.75 quarts. That amount barely fill up the bigger cover. Some recommend adding till fluid comes out of the filling hole.
