Change the oil and don't drive it too hard and it'll run forever. I am surprised that they cost that much. You should be able to get one for $4,000-5,000 easily. At least around here, there are a lot of Tahoes being sold in the high 3s with high mileage. Yukons will cost more and be better equipped of course.

Kirkwood is the best skiing in the area IMHO. It is remote though. Flying into Reno is your best bet but Sacramento is not too bad if you're able to get a good flight deal. For advanced skiers squaw, kirkwood or mammoth (not really tahoe) are the way to go. A torch run isn’t night skiing. Heavenly night skiing is not open to the public. They do have night skiing as part of their community racing league but if you're not already signed up, entry is closed. Too bad headlamp night skiing isn't available somewhere it Tahoe.
