Jul 26, 2021 · The Glock 30S, SF has a slide that is taken from the Glock 36, and it is thinner and trimmer. The nickname used by Jim Rawles for the Glock 30S is the “Glock 30-Skinny”, and it is his preferred carry gun–often with a 13-round Model 21 magazine and a “filler” ring.

I recently compared the Gen 4 G30, a G30 SF, and a G30s all side by side. All were new in the box, were blue labels and were priced exactly the same.
I have most all the Glock .45's. When I was choosing which would be first in the 30 series (my first two .45's were G21SF and G21g4), the 30S's frame is same as 30SF and 30g4. The slide is slimmer on the 30S. But, the frame thickness is what grabbed my attention at first. Slimmer slide but same thickness in the frame.Glock 30S: Defining a Subcompact. Nov 9, 2010 · The XDS was the smallest and most comfortable carry but I couldn’t hit anything and the backstrap dug into the web of my hand. If you are intent on the Glock in 45 cal as a carry piece, definitely go with the G30S. That small difference in the narrower slide is huge. The G30S weighs the same as my G19. From my understanding, the 30 gen 4 has the same grip dimensions as the 30SF if you don't use a backstrap attachment. Also, the 30SF has the dual recoil spring assembly which is also included in the Gen 4 models.
