I attempted installing my ecobee 3 last night. At first, I wasn't able to locate a C wire since my old thermostat didn't require one so I went ahead and connected the the wiring as such: I undid the wiring in my furnace and connected the PEK kit. Unfortunately, at this point, I did not take a picture of the original wiring on the furnace board.

Either HVAC or the thermostat can control the fan while the gas furnace kicks off. I cannot do the same for the heat pump. Even if I could, G wire goes directly from the thermostat to the air handler inside the furnace, so the heat pump has no way to tell the air handler to start blowing air. I'm thinking there could be 2 ways to solve it:
