Sounds like the barrel is the same length as a German K98k. I don't know if the Yugoslavs made new barrels in the K98k length, or just scrubbed all markings from a serviceable German made barrel. They did shorten many K98k stocks to allow use of a bayonet with their new made, shorter barrels (same as M24/47 and M48).
